The
Amazons appeared in second part of IV century, they are known to be
women warriors. We may wonder how has the story of the Amazons
influenced fighting women these days? We 'll present the story of
the Amazons, how they have evolved and we will make a link with
today's women.
The
Amazons are women that we fight for independence. Were men banished
from their tribe. She lived in northern Greece the rives of Thermodon
near the black sea. The women governs and fight while men take care
of housework. They took power over men because they broke the legs
and arms of male children or made them blind so they couldn't fight
during war.
How
have they evolved? : The Amazons are the people of women warriors :
"those who don't have any bosom". The legend says they were
used to cutting their right bosom in order to do archery. They were
famous for being real warriors, and they were the first women to use
cavalry.
Link
with today's women : The Amazons have inspired the women today for
their fight for the independence of women. They took the example of
the Amazons to defend their ideas. Florence Arthaud is one of those
female fighters, she was called "The little bride of the
Atlantic" because she was the first woman to win the fourth
edition of the "Route du Rhum" on november 18, 1990.
Femen
is a Ukrainian feminist group, founded in Kiev in 2008.
The
group became internationally known by organizing actions, mostly
topless, in order to defend the rights of women.
Amazons
are women who have broken the myth of inferiority. Today women take
their example to fight for their rights. Amazons are not the only
symbol of the warrior woman, the more recent are also such as wonder
woman and suffragettes
